    The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Index ended 2017 at 1,753.71 points – the year’s closing high, up 13.7 percent from end-2016, while a combined market capitalization of SET and Marker for Alternative Investment (mai) hit the fresh record high at THB 17.9 trillion (USD 542.4 billion), up 15.6 percent from end-2016. Theaverage daily trading value of SET and mai in 2017 decreased by 4.6 percent to THB 50.1 billion.  

  • Shanghai Stock Exchange Amends 5 Format Instructions On Temporary Announcements To Improve Accuracy Of Performance Disclosure

    The Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) lately released some newly-amended format instructions on temporary announcements for disclosing predictions and expresses on business performance, which are of great significance to listed companies’ stock prices and to investor’s decisions. The releasing of the newly-amended instructions by the SSE at the approaching of the peak season for 2017 annual business performance predictions will better help and guide listed companies to disclose their business performance changes accurately. It can be seen from the amendments that the SSE has given full consideration on the problems in current business performance predictions, such as inaccurate and incomplete disclosure and the possibility of misleading investors. The improvement of relevant information disclosure through the amendments will further enhance the pertinence and effectiveness of information disclosure and meet investors’ right to know.

    To further standardize issues related to disclosing predictions and expresses on business performance by listed companies, the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) has amended format instructions on some temporary announcements as follows: “No. 27 – Announcement on Predicted Increase (Decrease) of Listed Company’s Business Performance (Amended in January 2015)”, “No. 28 – Announcement on Predicted Profit of Listed Company’s Business Performance (Amended in January 2015)”, “No. 29 – Announcement on Predicted Loss of Listed Company’s Business Performance (Amended in January 2015)”, “No. 30 – Modification Announcement on Prediction on Listed Company’s Business Performance”, “No. 31 – Announcement on Express on Listed Company’s Business Performance”, and “No. 32 – Modification Announcement on Express on Listed Company’s Business Performance”, and combined “No. 28 – Announcement on Predicted Profit of Listed Company’s Business Performance (Amended in January 2015)” with “No. 29 – Announcement on Predicted Loss of Listed Company’s Business Performance (Amended in January 2015)”.

    • Market capitalisation was $34 trillion at the end of 2017, a record high and representing a year-on-year increase of 37 per cent.
    • The Hang Seng Index ended 2017 at 29919.15, representing a year-on-year increase of 36 per cent.
    • The average daily turnover in 2017 was $88.2 billion, an increase of 32 per cent from $66.9 billion in 2016.
    • There were 21,224 Structured Product (Derivative Warrants and CBBCs) newly listed in 2017, a new record and an increase of 54 per cent from 13,771 in 2016.

    Following a public statement released on 7 September 2017 regarding Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs), the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has noticed an increase in activities by new ICOs to solicit investments in crypto-currencies from the public at large, including senior citizens.  

  • Shanghai Stock Exchange, Hengshan Group Ink Astor House Hotel Lease Contract

    The Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and Shanghai Hengshan (Group) Corp. officially sign the Astor House Hotel Lease Contract on December 29, 2017. The signing aims at offering a venue for the capital market series exhibitions in 2018, and Astor House Hotel is to be used as the SSE’s investor education base and the cultural exhibition and exchange base of international exchanges. Among those attending the signing ceremony include SSE Party Chief and Chairman Wu Qing, President Huang Hongyuan, Vice Chairman Zhang Dongke and Vice President Xu Yilin, as well as Party Chief and President Lu Yang, Vice President Xiong Kai of Hengshan Group and chiefs of relevant departments (subsidiaries) of the group.
