  • CME Group Announces Henry Hub Natural Gas Futures All-Time Daily Volume Record, Surpassing 1 Million Contracts

    CME Group, the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, today announced it reached a daily trading volume record for Henry Hub Natural Gas futures on January 12, 2018, of 1,022,858 contracts - surpassing the 1 million milestone for the first time. The previous single-day trading volume record was 995,129 contracts set on January 11, 2018.

    I hope that everyone had a very nice weekend and enjoyed the holiday on which we commemorate the life and contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

    I note that this August will be the 55th anniversary of Dr. King’s “I Have A Dream” speech here in Washington and April will be the 50th anniversary of his death at age 39.

    His lasting impact on America is remarkable and even more remarkable in the context of his short life with us. It is amazing the difference one person can make.

  • PennantPark Management Opens Trading At The TASE To Mark Dual Listing And Bond Issue

    This morning the management of PennantPark Floating Rate Capital opened trading on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange in honor of the company's dual listing on the Exchange. The company is subject to the regulation governing business development companies supervised by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and engages in extending floating rate loans to middle-market companies (generally companies with EBITDA of $10 million to $50 million),mostly in the U.S.

    Total trading volume on SEFs averaged $468.7 billion in notional value per day during the month of December, down 21.0% from the previous month but up 9.3% from December 2016. The decrease in trading volume was driven mainly by a drop in on-SEF trading of interest rate swaps, which was down 18.9% from November 2017 but up 10.8% from December 2016. Credit default swap trading reached its lowest level in more than a year, falling to just $12.68 billion in average daily notional value traded in December.
