EEX Exchange Council Approves Changes To Rules & Regulations Regarding MiFID II And The Introduction Of New Products

On Thursday 7th December, the Exchange Council of the European Energy Exchange (EEX) held its fourth and final meeting of 2017 in Vienna. The meeting was chaired by Dr Michael Redanz, Managing Director of EWE Trading GmbH. In addition to approving changes to certain rules and regulations ahead of the introduction of MiFID II, the Exchange Council also granted approval for a number of new contracts including the introduction of a new Liquid Milk contract as well as the introduction of further short term power contracts.

The Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee has voted unanimously to maintain Bank Rate at 0.50%. The committee also voted unanimously to maintain the stock of corporate bond purchases and UK government bond purchases. -

Major Financial Institutions To Connect To Deutsche Börse’s Regulatory Reporting Hub

Deutsche Börse Group continues to welcome major sell- and buy-side institutions as users of its Regulatory Reporting Hub service. With MiFID II becoming effective on 3 January 2018, the Regulatory Reporting Hub (RRH) will enable sell-side, buy-side and systems integrators' clients to meet their regulatory obligations easily and efficiently. Recently, BaFin (German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority) had determined that Deutsche Börse’s ARM (Approved Reporting Mechanism) and APA (Approved Publication Arrangement) services are compliant with all relevant MiFID II requirements.

UK's Financial Conduct Authority: AIM Investment Company Fined For Failing To Disclose Inside Information As Soon As Possible

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has today fined Tejoori Limited (Tejoori) £70,000 for failing to inform the market of inside information as required by Article 17(1) of the Market Abuse Regulation (MAR). This is the first fine the FCA has imposed on an AIM company for late disclosure following the introduction of MAR on 3 July 2016.

When the EU Markets in Financial Instruments Directive MiFID II enters into force on 3 January 2018, the rules on the provision of research services will fundamentally change. In addition to banks and investors, this particularly affects listed companies. In order to continue to attract the necessary attention on the capital market in the future, smaller issuers in particular will need to act. This is the conclusion of a paper that Deutsche Börse AG presented jointly today with the German Investment Funds Association (BVI), the German Share Institute (DAI), the German Investor Relations Association (DIRK) and the German Society of Investment Analysts and Asset Managers (DVFA).
