Eurex Clearing: Danske Bank Joins Partnership Program

The Danske Bank is the first Nordic bank to join Eurex Clearing’s Partnership Program and to become a General Clearing Member for Eurex Clearing’s OTC IRD clearing service. So far, 30 firms have joined the Partnership Program to support the common objective of building a liquid alternative to clear EUR-denominated OTC interest rate derivatives in the EU27.

CUSIP Global Services (CGS) today announced the release of its CUSIP Issuance Trends Report for August 2018. The report, which tracks the issuance of new security identifiers as an early indicator of debt and capital markets activity, found across-the-board growth in monthly request volume for new municipal, corporate equity and corporate debt identifiers in August. This is suggestive of a strong pace of new security issuance.

Strong inflows during the month were primarily gathered by ETFs providing exposure to US equities, according to ETFGI’s August 2018 Global ETF and ETP industry landscape insights report, an annual paid-for research subscription service. Solactive is pleased to announce that ETF Securities Australia has launched the ETFS Battery Tech & Lithium ETF (ASX: ACDC) that tracks the Solactive Battery Value-Chain Index. The index is tracking the performance of companies that are providers of certain electrochemical energy storage technology (i.e., battery technology) and mining companies that produce metals that are primarily used for manufacturing batteries. The index is equal weighted and currently includes the 28 stocks that are closely related to the theme of battery and lithium technology.

Dubai Financial Services Authority Board Appoints Bryan Stirewalt As Next Chief Executive

The Board of Directors (“Board”) of the Dubai Financial Services Authority (“DFSA”) has today announced, following a global search, the appointment of Bryan Stirewalt as the next Chief Executive of the DFSA. Bryan will succeed Ian Johnston, who in late 2017 announced his intention to retire from the DFSA. The appointment will take effect from 1 October 2018. During his tenure, Ian made a significant contribution to the DFSA and was key to its development as a strong and internationally respected regulator, as well as to the development of the Dubai International Financial Centre (“DIFC”).
