ASIC Provides Relief And Updates Guidance On Short Selling

ASIC has issued a new legislative instrument that provides various relief and modifications to the laws in relation to short selling (the Short Selling Instrument).

ASIC has also updated its existing guidance in Regulatory Guide 196Short selling to reflect the legislative instrument.

Reference to the Capital market law issued by Royal Decree number (M/30) dated 31 July 2003, and The Financial Technology Experimental Permit Instructions published on 10/01/2018, which aims to provide a regulatory framework that is conducive for the innovation of Financial Technology (FinTech) in the capital market within the Kingdom. As a continuous effort to promote FinTech innovation in the capital market, the Capital Market Authority (CMA) is pleased to welcome applications for the 2nd batch for the FinTech ExPermits with effect from 15/10/2018. The application period for the 2nd batch will be closed on 15/12/2018.

CFTC Financial Data For Futures Commission Merchants Update

Futures commission merchants (FCMs) and retail foreign exchange dealers (RFEDs) must file monthly financial reports with the CFTC's Division of Swap Dealer and Intermediary Oversight (DSIO) within 17 business days after the end of the month. Selected financial information from these reports is published below. The most recent month-end information generally is added within 12 business days after FCMs and RFEDs file their reports, but occasionally may be added later. For example:  The 17th business day filing “due date" for February 28, 2015 financial reports was March 25, 2015.  The 12 business day target for posting these data was April 10, 2015.

CME Group Inc. Announces Third-Quarter 2018 Earnings Release, Conference Call

CME Group Inc. will announce earnings for the third quarter of 2018 before the markets open on Thursday, October 25, 2018.  Slides and written highlights for the quarter will be posted on its website at 6:30 a.m. Central Time, the same time it provides its earnings press release.  The company will hold an investor conference call that day at 7:30 a.m. Central Time, at which time company executives will take analysts' questions.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in collaboration with Bloomberg will hold the fourth edition of the NSE-Bloomberg CEO Roundtable on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Stock Exchange House, Marina, Lagos. The event themed, “Reshaping the Nigerian Economy for Sustainable Growth: Leveraging the Fourth Industrial Revolution as a Catalyst for Advancement”, will focus on the topical issue of the fourth industrial revolution and its implication for the Nigerian economy.
