Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer: Producer Sentiment Holds Steady, But Lack Of New Farm Bill Concerns Farmers

Agricultural producer sentiment held steady in November with producers remaining optimistic about the state of the agricultural economy, according to results from the Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer. The November barometer reading of 134 was only 1 percent lower than October, which is similar to levels seen last spring before trade disruptions began. The barometer utilizes a survey of 400 agricultural producers from across the country.

• Increase of the total volume of trading in futures by 14.9% YoY to 664.3 thousand contracts in November 2018
• Increase of the total value of trading in equities on NewConnect by 80.0% YoY to PLN 176.2 million
• Increase of the value of trading in structured products by 11.4% YoY to PLN 95.4 million
• Increase of the total volume of trading in electricity by 110.7% to 22.6 TWh in November 2018
• Decrease of the total volume of trading in natural gas by 8.9% YoY to 13.4 TWh in November 2018
• Decrease of the volume of spot trading in property rights to certificates of origin[2] by 25.1% to 2.8 TWh in November 2018

ESMA Is Seeking Experts In Financial Innovation For Its Consultative Group

ESMA is today launching the process to renew the Consultative Working Group (CWG) of the Financial Innovation Standing Committee (FISC). ESMA is calling for expressions of interest from stakeholders to become a member of the CWG by 15 January 2019. 

ESMA Appoints New Securities And Markets Stakeholder Group

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has published the new list of members of its Securities and Markets Stakeholder Group (SMSG) following its approval by its Board of Supervisors. The selected individuals begin a 2½ year term on 1 January 2019 and will replace the group whose mandate expires on 31 December 2018.

PEGAS, the pan-European gas trading platform operated by Powernext, reported its best monthly volume in 2018 with 193.3 TWh traded in November. Once again, the spot segment posted a strong activity with 103.9 TWh, including the highest traded volume on PEGAS TTF Spot with 42.1 TWh (previous record: 41.3 TWh in March 2018).
