ISDA: Brexit FAQs – Version 8

These FAQs address the possible UK position post-Brexit, i.e. after the conclusion of the exit process under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty. The exit negotiations, and the position in respect of cross-border financial services, are still evolving and will depend upon the final relationship negotiated between the UK and the European Union (the “EU”).

A Panel of the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) today approved a settlement agreement with Coinsquare Ltd., Cole Diamond, Virgile Rostand and Felix Mazer. The settlement relates to market manipulation on the Coinsquare platform, misleading statements to investors and a reprisal against an internal whistleblower.

ISDA: Bloomberg Begins Publishing Calculations Related To IBOR Fallbacks

Bloomberg and ISDA today announced that Bloomberg Index Services Limited (BISL) has begun calculating and publishing fallbacks that ISDA intends to implement for certain key interbank offered rates (IBORs).

African Fund Managers Look For Governance In New Markets - Governance At The Heart Of Investment Decisions Of African Fund Managers

Governance, good regulation and availability of market data and prices help African fund managers decide on investing into other African markets, according to a survey of 50 African asset-managers for the African Exchanges Linkage Project (AELP) project. Key factors when they choose new markets are: market regulation (91% of replies), followed by investor regulation and availability of market data and prices (90% each).

BIS: Effects Of Fed Policy Rate Forecasts On Real Yields And Inflation Expectations At The Zero Lower Bound

Focus

Long-term real interest rates play an important part in the transmission of monetary policy measures to aggregate demand. But there are concerns that the unconventional monetary policy tool of forward guidance may not be effective when policy rates fall to zero, ie reach their zero lower bound (ZLB). A further concern is that the publication of policy rate forecasts at the ZLB may be perceived as an unconditional commitment, thus undermining the credibility of monetary policy. We investigate both these concerns for the policy rate forecasts made by the Federal Reserve in its Summary of Economic Projections (SEP).

EBA Publishes Overview Of Public Guarantee Schemes Issued In Response To The Covid-19 Pandemic

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today a list of the public guarantee schemes issued in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This publication, which complements the information included in the EBA Report on the implementation of selected COVID-19 policies, aims at providing transparency to the public on the existence of public guarantees, as well as responding to the European Commission’s request for a stock-take of such guarantees.
