IMF Enhances Debt Relief Trust To Enable Support For Eligible Low-Income Countries In The Wake Of The COVID-19 Pandemic

In direct response to the COVID-19 crisis the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board has adopted some immediate enhancements to its Catastrophe Containment and Relief Trust (CCRT) to enable the Fund to provide debt service relief for its poorest and most vulnerable members. The CCRT enables the IMF to deliver grants for debt relief benefitting eligible low-income countries in the wake of catastrophic natural disasters and major, fast-spreading public health emergencies.

US Federal Agencies Announce Two Actions To Support Lending To Households And Businesses

The federal bank regulatory agencies today announced two actions to support the U.S. economy and allow banking organizations to continue lending to households and businesses:
- Allowing early adoption of a new methodology on how certain banking organizations are required to measure counterparty credit risk derivatives contracts; and
- Providing an optional extension of the regulatory capital transition for the new credit loss accounting standard.

ESMA Consults On Guidance To Address Leverage Risk In The AIF Sector

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU securities regulator, has today launched a public consultation on its draft guidance to address leverage risks in the Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) sector. The consultation is part of the ESMA response to the recommendations of the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) in April 2018 to address liquidity and leverage risk in investment funds.
