    The Bank for International Settlements has reviewed the content of the FX Global Code, as updated in July 2021, and acknowledges that the Code represents a set of principles generally recognised as good practice in the wholesale foreign exchange market. The BIS confirms that it acts as a market participant as defined by the Code, and is committed to conducting its FX market activities in a manner consistent with the principles of the Code. To this end, the BIS has taken appropriate steps, based on the size and complexity of its activities, and the nature of its engagement in the FX market, to align its activities with the principles of the Code.

    The Chicago Business BarometerTM, produced with MNI, recovered to 60.3 in May, following last month’s dip to 56.4. Inventories saw a fresh near 50-year high. All main indicators increased except for supplier deliveries, which hit the lowest since November 2020.

    I am very pleased to have been invited to address the Irish Funds Annual Global Funds Conference and it is a particular pleasure to be able to do this in person here in the Convention Centre in Dublin. While I appreciate the flexibility that virtual interaction brings – moving from an international meeting of the FSB to a speech at a conference in a matter of seconds - it is not the same as personal interactions during these kinds of events where we can really exchange and learn from each other’s perspectives.
