    The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will hold an open meeting beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2002, to discuss its study of potential changes in the regulation of intermediaries, pursuant to Section 125 of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000. The meeting will take place at the Commission's Washington, D.C. headquarters, Three Lafayette Centre, 1155 21st Street, N.W., in the first-floor hearing room.

  • CBOT's May Volume At 29,119,791, Second-Highest Monthly Total

    The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) today announced trading volume of 29,119,791 contracts for May 2002, up 22.7% from April 2002, up 22.0% from May 2001, and up 16.5% year-to-date (YTD) at 124,093,833. May 2002 volume was the second-highest monthly total in exchange history. Volume on CBOT's electronic trading platform set a monthly record of 10,235,848 contracts. Electronic trading was up 33.0% from April 2002, up 134.0% from May 2001, and up 130.7% YTD at 40,130,990.

  • CBOE Index Volume Up 7% In May

    Index options volume for the month of May at the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) increased 7% over May of last year. For the month, total index options volume was 6,885,712 contracts (3,278,071 calls and 3,607,641 puts) traded. The growth in total index options volume was a result of strong gains posted in volume in options on the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index (DJX), S&P 100 Index (OEX), S&P 500 Index (SPX), Russell 2000 Index (RUT) and the Nasdaq-100 Index Tracking Stock (QQQ).
