Bucharest Stock Exchange Joins Federation Of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges

At the 9th Annual General Assembly, in Sofia-Bulgaria, the application of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, to become a memeber of FEAS, was unaimously approved. Effective October 10th 2003 the Bucharest Stock Exchange fulfilled all obligations of membership and became a full member of FEAS. United States Treasury Secretary John Snow made a historic visit to the Chicago Board Trade on Wednesday, October 22, 2003. It was no surprise that U.S. Treasury Secretary Snow's first stop on his tour of the CBOT® was the U.S. Treasury Bond futures pit, where he was greeted by CBOT traders. At 9:30 a.m. (Chicago time) Snow rang the opening bell for the agricultural floor to commence trading.

Trading on the derivatives exchange Eurex began on Thursday at 11.00 am CET. The later trading start was the result of connection problems experienced by a number of individual Eurex customers. These connection problems were dependent on the technical infrastructure used by the individual customers.

Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Thursday, October 23, 2003: Glencairn Gold Corporation (TSXVN:GLJ) will be removed from the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index. Securities Industry Association TO NASD: Mutual-Fund Compensation Rules Should Be Uniform, Flexible, Have Clearly Defined Terms

While supportive of enhanced disclosure of mutual-fund revenue-sharing and differential-compensation arrangements contained in an NASD rule proposal, the Securities Industry Association recommended in its comment letter that the NASD: coordinate and make uniform with other regulators and legislators any rulemaking on these arrangements; provide broker-dealers with flexibility as to the methodology for addressing these and related mutual-fund disclosures; and, define "differential compensation"
