NewEuroMTS Continues Growth With Addition Of Lithuania Bonds

NewEuroMTS, the market for euro-denominated government securities of the May 2004 EU Accession States, today announced that the Republic of Lithuania became the third eligible issuer to have its bonds included in the market. As of today, Republic of Lithuania 4.50% 2013 bonds will join issues from Poland and Hungary in benefiting from the transparency and liquidity offered by NewEuroMTS and its market makers.

In February 2004 total trading volume on FORTS (Futures & Options on the RTS) increased by 18% in rubles and 19% in contracts and reached 2,7 million contracts and 21 billion rubles. Total open interest as of February 27th, 2004, equaled 6 billion rubles and 704 thousand contracts.

Euronext.liffe's Commodity futures and options contracts traded a total of 641,992 lots in February 2004, a 15% increase in year to date volumes compared to 2003. This further growth in Euronext.liffe Commodity Products follows record traded volumes during the course of 2003.

EU-Canada: Commission Agrees Design Of Future EU-Canada Trade And Investment Enhancement Agreement

The European Commission has agreed today on the design of the future EU-Canada Trade and Investment Enhancement Agreement (TIEA), identifying its areas and main objectives. The blueprint of this new type of agreement will now be discussed with the Canadian Government and adopted formally by EU and Canadian Leaders at the next EU-Canada summit to be held in Ottawa on 18 March.
