CME Sets New Volume And Open Interest Records In E-Mini(TM) S&P 500® Equity Options - New Market Maker Program To Launch Nov. 8

CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, set a new volume record of 8,946 contracts in its E-miniTM S&P 500® equity options, up from the previous record of 6,142 set on October 11, 2004. Yesterday also marked a new open interest record of 45,074 positions for the contract. Trading in the exchange’s E-mini S&P 500 equity options has more than quadrupled since last year. CBOT: Precious Metals Complex Sets New Volume & Open Interest Records

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) announced today that on November 4, 2004, volume and open interest in the exchange's Precious Metals complex rose to new records of 9,018 contracts and 11,113 contracts, respectively. Winnipeg Commodity Exchange: Western Barley Prices Lowest In 3 Years

Western barley futures at the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange finished the month of October on a weak note, with the December contract ending the month at its lowest closing price of $117.00 per metric tonne. This was also the lowest monthly close for the nearby Western barley futures price in over three years. Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Open Interest Significantly Higher Than A Year Ago

Total open interest in Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Inc. futures and options contracts stood at 76,469 contracts at the end of October 2004. This represents an increase of 24.7% from the level at the end of October 2003 and is 11.3% higher than at the end of September 2004.

Standard & Poor’s will make the following changes to the S&P SmallCap 600 and S&P REIT Composite Indices: S&P REIT Composite Index constituent CRT Properties Inc. (NYSE:CRO) will replace QRS Corp. (NASD:QRSI) in the S&P SmallCap 600 after the close of trading on Friday, November 12. QRS is being acquired by privately-held Inovis International in a deal still subject to shareholder approval.
