In a recent study of the market impact costs of trading, a key measurement of market quality for investors, Toronto Stock Exchange has moved to top spot, as the most-efficient exchange in the world. According to the survey, done for Institutional Investor magazine, by mid-2004 the average Canadian market impact cost had decreased to a world-leading 5.45 basis points. The Securities and Exchange Commission announced today that it will host a roundtable discussion this spring regarding registrants’ and accounting firms’ experiences implementing the new reporting requirements under Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. The roundtable, which will include representatives of the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), issuers, auditors, investors and other interested parties, is tentatively scheduled for April 2005.
