  • Europe’s Main Emitters Meet In London - First Meeting Of Industrial And Financial Committees Of European Climate Exchange

    Yesterday in London, representatives of 20 of Europe’s largest emitters of carbon dioxide met for the first time as the founding members of the European Climate Exchange’s (ECX) industry committee. The group, which accounts for roughly 65 percent of total emissions targeted under the EU emissions trading scheme (EU ETS), included all of Europe’s largest power utilities and the world’s top oil companies amongst others.

    In advance of next week's Federal Open Market Committee meeting on September 21, the Chicago Board of Trade will be reporting daily rate change probabilities in the FOMC's federal funds target rate, as indicated by the CBOT® 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract. The CBOT 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract is a key benchmark interest rate barometer that reflects the forward overnight effective rate for excess reserves that are traded among commercial banks in the U.S. federal funds market.

  • CBOE and NSX Boards Approve Plan To Reduce CBOE Interest In NSX

    The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSX) today announced that their governing Boards have approved a proposal for CBOE to sell most of its NSX Certificates of Proprietary Membership ("Certificates") to NSX, and to relinquish CBOE's accompanying rights to NSX Board positions. CBOE's Board of Directors approved the proposal at its meeting today. NSX's Board of Trustees approved the proposal at its meeting on August 10, 2004.
