Issues 24 and 25 of ICEX News and Views, Volume 4, discussed ownership of securities, using year-end figures for 2002 and 2003, and figures for the end of September 2004. This article makes available figures from year-end 2004, giving a summary of the yearend status in 2002 to 2004. As in the previous instances, the survey is based on economic statistics compiled by the Icelandic Securities Depository (ISD) for the Central Bank.
HKEx Announces Measures To Further Develop Its Stock Options Market

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) announced today new measures to further develop its Stock Options market, which set new records last year for volume (5,611,832 contracts, up 33 per cent from 2003) and open interest (979,659 contracts on 29 December). CME Continues To Expand Equity Options Offering - E-Mini™ Russell 2000® Launch In February

CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, today announced it will launch equity options on E-Mini™ Russell 2000® futures contracts – a smaller sized, electronically traded version of CME’s standard Russell 2000 contract, which tracks the Russell 2000 Index. CME Appoints Wayne Bearden As Director, Critical Data Centers And Facilities

CME, the largest U.S. futures exchange, announced today it has appointed Wayne Bearden as Director, Critical Data Centers and Facilities. Bearden, who has more than 20 years of facilities management and engineering experience, will have oversight responsibility for the company’s onsite and offsite data centers. CBOT Two-Year U.S. Treasury Note Futures Set New Record - Open Interest Surpasses 300,000-Mark

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today that CBOT Two-Year U.S. Treasury Note futures set an open interest record for a ninth consecutive session, surpassing 300,000 contracts for the first time in Exchange history. Open interest in the contract reached a total of 303,789 contracts on January 19.
Boston Options Exchange New Daily Volume Trading Record

Trading volume today on BOX was 306,862 contracts, the first time BOX has topped 300,000 contracts in a single session. Since the beginning of the year, BOX volume is averaging 230,000 contracts per day for a market share of 5.5%
UK’s Financial Services Authority Publishes Its Financial Risk Outlook

The FSA has today published its Financial Risk Outlook 2005 , which details the risks that it sees facing the financial sector and its customers. The Outlook sets out the background against which the FSA sets its priorities for the year, which will be detailed in the Authority's Business Plan to be published next week.
