Thank you, Amy [Reischauer]. Good morning everyone. I would like to welcome the fourteen new members of the committee and thank you in advance for your contributions towards creating a regulatory structure that allows small businesses and smaller public companies to raise necessary capital, while at the same time, protecting their investors. I would also like to thank Donnel Baird and Sue Washer, as well as the committee’s representatives from the Commission’s Investor Advocate, NASAA, the Small Business Administration, and FINRA, for their continued service on the committee.

EBA Issues Opinion In Response To The European Commission’s Proposed Amendments To The Draft Technical Standards On Crowdfunding Service Providers

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today an Opinion on the amendments proposed by the European Commission to the EBA final draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) on requirements on credit scoring of crowdfunding projects, pricing of crowdfunding offers, and risk management policies and procedures. In the Opinion, while accepting the change proposed by the Commission on the treatment of personal data, the EBA notes the importance of ensuring that crowdfunding providers can access historical data to improve the assessment of creditworthiness and the performance of their scoring models.

Federal Trade Commission Acts To Stop Real Estate And Online Commerce Coaching Scheme ‘Ganadores’ Targeting Spanish-Speaking Consumers With Brazen Money-Making Pitches -Federal Court Temporarily Halts Alleged Unlawful Conduct, Freezes Assets; Defendants Previously Worked For Similar Operations Targeted By FTC

In response to an action filed by the Federal Trade Commission, a federal court has entered a temporary restraining order against the operators of a Florida-based business opportunity and real estate investment training scheme known as Ganadores Online and Ganadores Inversiones Bienes Raíces. The FTC charges that the companies behind Ganadores, their owners, and key employees targeted Spanish-speaking consumers with brazen and false money-making pitches for online businesses and real estate investments.

Today, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo participated in a roundtable on expanding access to capital for minority entrepreneurs and small business owners with representatives from the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Office of the Vice President. During the roundtable, Deputy Secretary Adeyemo discussed the Treasury Department’s State Small Business Credit Initiative and strategies for using public-private partnerships as force multipliers for investments in underserved businesses and entrepreneurs.

ETFGI Reports ETFs Industry In Canada Gathered Net Inflows Of US$2.12 Billion During May

ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs ecosystem, reported today that the ETFs industry in Canada gathered net inflows of US$2.12 billion during May, bringing year-to-date net inflows to US$12.80 billion. Year-to-date, assets have increased 8.5%, going from US$250 Bn at the end of 2022, to US$271 Bn, according to ETFGI's May 2023 Canadian ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report, the monthly report which is part of an annual paid-for research subscription service.
