 The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) is extending the comment period for its consultation on proposed amendments to the corporate governance disclosure requirements and policy relating to the director nomination process, board renewal and diversity.

Commissioner Christy Goldsmith Romero, sponsor of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Technology Advisory Committee (TAC), today announced the TAC will meet July 18, following the TAC’s inaugural March 22 meeting. The meeting will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (EDT) at the CFTC’s Washington, D.C. headquarters. The public will be able to watch the live meeting via webcast at CFTC.gov

The global merger and acquisitions (M&A) activity witnessed a significant year-on-year (YoY) decline from January to May 2023 in comparison to the corresponding period in the previous year. The total number of M&A deals announced globally during January-May 2023 amounted to 12,619, marking a decline of 21.4% compared to the 16,055 M&A deals announced during January-May 2022, reveals GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

CFTC: Federal Court Orders Ohio Man To Pay Over $50 Million For Fraudulent Digital Asset Trading Scheme

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission today announced that on June 13, Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York issued a default judgment granting a permanent injunction against Michael Ackerman of Alliance, Ohio. The order bans Ackerman from trading in any CFTC-regulated markets and registering with the CFTC. It also requires him to pay $27 million in restitution to defrauded victims and a $27 million civil monetary penalty in connection with a fraudulent digital asset trading scheme.
