The last time I sat down to write a blog, I wrote about the exciting new developments in our Connect Story; the next chapter in our journey and one full of enhancements, innovations and new initiatives to come.

HFRI 500 Surges In June Led By Growth, AI Exposures - Event, Equity Strategies Drive Broad-Based Gains; - Shareholder Activist, Growth & Quant Lead Sub-Strategies

Hedge funds surged in June as Technology, AI and Growth led gains complemented by Shareholder Activist and Multi-Strategy sub-strategies as banking volatility subsided. The HFRI 500 Fund Weighted Composite Index surged +2.35 percent (estimated) in June, the strongest monthly gain since February 2021, as managers positioned for growth in Technology, Relative Value Arbitrage and Quantitative exposures, according to data released today by HFR®, the established global leader in the indexation, analysis and research of the global hedge fund industry. The HFRI Fund Weighted Composite Index® (FWC) also surged in June, gaining +2.2 percent, similarly driven by Equity Hedge and Event Driven strategies.

On July 6th, the Securities and Futures Financial Technology Research and Development Center (Shenzhen) (“the Financial Technology Center”), built and operated by Shenzhen Stock Exchange (“SZSE”), successfully held its 2022 Project Conclusion and 2023 Project Proposal Seminar. More than 2000 people including the relevant officials of the Science and Technology Supervision Bureau of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (“the Technology Bureau”) and SZSE and the technical experts from industry institutions attended the seminar via online and offline means.

Thank you for another tremendously successful Market Risk Advisory Committee (MRAC) meeting.  The contributions of the MRAC are directly the result of the commitment and dedication of 1) the MRAC Members, Subcommittee Members, and the leadership of both the Committee and Subcommittees; 2) the indefatigable support of the Commission’s leadership with crucial and invaluable support from Clark Hutchinson, Director of the Division of Clearing and Risk; Amanda Olear, Director of the Market Participants Division; and Vince McGonangle, Director of the Division of Market Oversight; and 3) the Designated Federal Officer and Alternate Designated Federal Officers who support the MRAC and its Subcommittees.  I’d like to say a bit more about this final group in a moment.
