Nomura Asset Management Chooses The RTS Index As Basis For The First Russia-Linked ETNs In Japan

Standard & Poor’s, the world’s leading index provider, announced today that it has licensed Tokyo-based Nomura Asset Management to use the RTS Index to launch a program of locally traded Exchange Traded Notes (ETNs). Nomura Asset Management has filed for the ETN listing on the Osaka Stock Exchange.

CFTC Clears FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Real Estate Futures Contracts For U.S. Investors

U.S. investors in European real estate stocks will now be able to use Liffe’s Paris futures contracts based on the benchmark FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Europe and FTSE/EPRA Euro Zone indices, following a recent decision by the Washington-based Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to allow them to be offered and sold in the United States.

July Highlights: ECX July volumes reached a total of 346 Mt, exceeding the previous monthly record in June (295 Mt). July 2008 volume represents almost a three-fold increase over the same month last year. DIFC Clarifies Its Position Regarding 'Rashed Investment Bank'

DIFC today clarified its position on news reports that have recently appeared regarding 'Rashed Investment Bank' an Islamic investment bank proposed to be set up in Dubai. While DIFC welcomes initiatives within the Islamic Finance industry, DIFC clarifies that it is not a member of the founding consortium of 'Rashed Investment Bank' and does not have a financial stake in the venture.

In July 2008, the trading volume of Three-month Euroyen futures was 1,654,329, decreasing 42.8% in comparison to that of the prior year comparable month, and decreasing 33.2% in comparison to that of the prior month, and the average daily volume was 75,197.
