Ibovespa Has Biggest Rally Since January 1999 - Dollar Futures Has Daily Price Fluctuation Altered During Trading Session

The spot Bovespa Index closed 14.66% higher, at 40,829.13 points. This is the biggest one-day point gain since January 15th, 1999, when the Ibovespa rose 33.41%.

NYSE Liffe Announces Clearing Relationship With OCC - Clearing Through Options Clearing Corporation To Begin At The End Of The First-Quarter 2009

NYSE Liffe, LLC, the U.S. futures exchange of NYSE Euronext (NYX), today announced that it has chosen The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC), the world’s largest derivatives clearing organization, as its clearing house. This clearing function will become operational before the end of the first-quarter 2009, with minimal conversion required for NYSE Liffe customers.

Federal Open Market Committee Authorizes An Increase In The Size Of Its Temporary Reciprocal Currency Arrangement With The Bank of Japan

The Federal Open Market Committee has authorized an increase in the size of its temporary reciprocal currency arrangement (swap line) with the Bank of Japan, so that the Bank of Japan can provide U.S. dollar funding in quantities sufficient to meet demand.

US Treasury Hires Custodian Under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act

The U.S. Treasury Department today announced that Bank of New York Mellon will serve as its custodian for the implementation of the Troubled Asset Relief Program authorized under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act. Treasury hired the New York City-based firm Monday and work began immediately to help the Department with custodial, accounting, auction management and other infrastructure services needed to administer the complex portfolio of troubled assets the Department will purchase.

Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) Investigation Of Share Loans And Price Trends

During the summer and autumn, share lending increased to historically high levels for Swedish bank shares and financial shares. During the past few weeks, however, share lending has declined considerably for three of the four largest bank shares. The price trend during the same period has generally been volatile and downward. The development is similar for many non-financial shares.
