ESCB/ CESR Consult On Draft Recommendations For Central Counterparties As Amended For OTC Derivatives

The European System of Central Banks (ESCB) and the Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) have published today the document entitled "Draft recommendations for central counterparties as amended for OTC derivatives" for public consultation, in the context of the joint work being undertaken by the ESCB and CESR in the field of securities clearing and settlement.

Vienna Stock Exchange Launches Four Russian Sector Indices

The Vienna Stock Exchange today announces the launch of four sector indices for Russia: RTX Mining & Metals Index (RTX MET), RTX Energy Index (RTX NRG), RTX Oil & Gas Index (RTX OIL) and RTX Telecom Index (RTX TEL). All four indices are capitalization-weighted price indices. They include the most actively traded stocks with the highest market capitalization listed on the MICEX (Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange).

UK’s Financial Services Authority Consults On Extra Deposit Protection For Temporary High Balances

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) today issued a consultation paper seeking views on whether the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) should provide extra protection for holders of temporary high deposit balances in the event of the failure of a UK bank, if the EU Deposit Guarantee Schemes Directive provides the UK with the scope to provide such protection.

A new Central Counterparty (CCP) service for trading in the 50 most liquid Depositary Receipts (DRs) on the London Stock Exchange’s International Order Book (IOB) has been launched this week, covering securities from Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea and India.
European Central Bank President Trichet: Implement Decisions Now For Recovery In 2010

HKEx Announces New Head Of Clearing

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) has appointed Derrick Fung as its Head of Clearing, effective 1 April this year. He will succeed Stewart Shing, who is retiring today. Mr Fung will report to HKEx Chief Operating Officer Gerald Greiner.
