SIFMA Survey Expects Total Net Treasury Issuance To Continue To Rise On Budget Deficit Projection

The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) today issued the results of its Quarterly Government Securities Issuance and Rates Forecast. The median survey response forecast total net Treasury bill, note and bond issuance to be $466.0 billion in the second quarter of 2009, higher than the $51.1 billion redeemed in the first quarter and the $45.6 billion redeemed in the second quarter a year ago. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has selected the members of the Subcommittee on Convergence in Agricultural Commodity Markets (Subcommittee), a new Subcommittee of the CFTC’s Agricultural Advisory Committee. The Subcommittee will identify the causes of poor cash-futures convergence in select agricultural commodity markets and advise on actions to remedy the situation.
