The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced the participants for the second of three hearings to address the current application of position limits and exemptions from position limits in energy markets. The hearing is scheduled to be held between 9:00 a.m. EDT and 1:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, July 29.

As of Monday, 18 more exchange-listed index funds from provider Source are tradable on the pan-European platform Xetra®. For the first time, investors can track the performance of the Dow Jones STOXX 600® Optimised Supersector indices. This is a new index family using the market-wide European Dow Jones STOXX 600 index. The equities are distributed across 18 supersectors depending on their exchange turnover, free float and lending potential.

July 2009 Monthly Preliminary Performance Report Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Indexes

The Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Index was up 0.64% for the month of July. The Dow Jones-UBS Single Commodity Indexes for Cocoa, Copper and Aluminum had the strongest gains with month-to-date returns of 15.82%, 11.00%, and 10.84%, respectively. The three most significant downside performing single commodity indexes were Corn, Soybean and Wheat , which were down -10.79%, -6.73%, and -4.53% respectively, in July.
