Good afternoon and welcome to the second Investor Advisory Committee meeting of 2025, and the first of my Chairmanship. I wish I could be there with you in person. I am now in my third tour of duty at the SEC—having previously served from 1990-1994 on the staff of former Chairmen Richard Breeden and Arthur Levitt, as a Commissioner from 2002-2008, and now as Chairman. As I have said before, it is a new day at the SEC, and I look forward to working with the Committee in this important work.

EEX Group Monthly Volumes - May 2025 - Monthly Volume Report

EEX Group reports its May monthly volumes with the following highlights:
- The EEX Group Global Power markets continued to see growing trading volumes, with 1,023.5 TWh, a +8% Year-on-Year growth.
- The volume growth was both driven by the European Power Spot markets, totaling 74.6 TWh (+4% YoY), as well as the European Power Derivatives markets, reaching a total of 680.0 TWh (+8% YoY). New record volumes were reached on the British intraday market at 4.6 TWh, as well as on the Dutch intraday market at 1.9 TWh.
- The EEX Japanese Power Futures market maintained its steady growth with a traded volume of 11.1 TWh (+253% YoY), while marking the 5th anniversary of operations.
- The EEX Group Global Natural Gas markets reported a 28% YoY increase in volume to 792.9 TWh, driven by the European Natural Gas Spot market, which reached 304.3 TWh (+26% YoY) and the European Natural Gas Derivatives market, which achieved 468.4 TWh (+34% YoY). The Belgian ZTP Gas Futures saw an exceptional +1677% Year-on-Year growth, with a overall volume of 17.1 TWh.
- The EEX Group Freight markets totalled 85,409 contracts, marking a 31% Year-on-Year growth, driven by the EEX Freight Options growth of 90%.
- In May, North American Environmentals at Nodal added up to a total of 59,176 contracts (+14% YoY).

ACER Encourages ENTSOG To Further Improve The Methodology For Identifying Hydrogen Infrastructure Gaps

ACER releases today its Opinion on the hydrogen Infrastructure Gaps Identification (IGI) report 2024. ACER welcomes the publication of this report prepared by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG), providing recommendations to improve the underlying methodology.

The market transacted a total of 149.40 million shares at a total consideration of MK94.13 billion (US$54.29 million) in 2,960 trades in the month of May 2025. In the previous month of April 2025, the market transacted a total of 50.18 million shares at a total consideration of MK13.58 billion (US$7.83 million) in 2,943 trades. This reflects a 197.75% increase in terms of share volume traded and a 593.05% (593.05% in US Dollar terms) increase in share value traded. Of the shares traded, 73.3 thousand NBM plc shares traded as negotiated deals at total consideration of MK417.81 million.

Tradeweb Reports May 2025 Total Trading Volume Of $55.4 Trillion And Average Daily Volume Of $2.5 Trillion

Tradeweb Markets Inc. (Nasdaq: TW), a leading, global operator of electronic marketplaces for rates, credit, equities and money markets, today reported total trading volume for the month of May 2025 of $55.4 trillion (tn). Average daily volume (ADV) for the month was $2.5tn, an increase of 33.3 percent (%) year-over-year (YoY). Excluding the impact of the ICD acquisition, which closed on August 1, 2024, total ADV for the month of May was up 20.3% YoY.

ECB: Monetary Policy Decisions

The Governing Council today decided to lower the three key ECB interest rates by 25 basis points. In particular, the decision to lower the deposit facility rate – the rate through which the Governing Council steers the monetary policy stance – is based on its updated assessment of the inflation outlook, the dynamics of underlying inflation and the strength of monetary policy transmission.
