Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority - Finansinspektionen - Credit Development In Sweden And The Authorities' Actions

On Tuesday, 1 March 2011, Martin Andersson, Director General of Finansinspektionen, participated in an open question-and-answer session at the Parliamentary Committee on Finance regarding the development of the Swedish credit market and the actions of responsible authorities. Martin Andersson raised the need for tougher capital requirements in the future and new forums for public discussions regarding risk accumulation in the financial system.

Thai Bourse Promotes Algorithmic Trading

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) is urging securities companies and institutional investors to adopt the algorithmic trading program, which allows stock trade to be executed automatically and enhances the standards of investors’ portfolio management to match that of leading world markets.  The SET is also joining Chulalongkorn University to launch a competition on algorithmic trading from March 19-20.

Thai Bourse And 17 Brokers To Train Derivatives Marketing Officers

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and 17 brokerages will intensively train the brokers’ derivatives marketing officers on investment strategies and new products, including the addition of more underlying stocks for single stock futures, introduce silver and oil futures, and extend trading hours for gold and silver futures to 22:30 hours. The SET and brokers target the opening of 10,000 more derivatives accounts in 2011 as the marketing officers apply what they’ve learned in this TFEX Top Marketing 2011 project.

Nodal Exchange, LLC and LCH.Clearnet Ltd (LCH.Clearnet) have expanded the range of contracts settling on Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) locations to 32. Available to trade and clear from today, the contracts consist of monthly expiries based on both Real Time and Day Ahead prices across all 4 ERCOT hubs and all 4 ERCOT zones, for both peak and off-peak time periods.
