DTCC Files With SEC To Operate A CCP For Mortgage-Backed Securities

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) announced today that the Mortgage-Backed Securities Division (MBSD) of its Fixed Income Clearing Corporation (FICC) subsidiary has filed an application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to provide central counterparty (CCP) and pool netting services for trades in U.S. mortgage-backed securities. This initiative is designed to reduce the risks and costs associated with trading in the $100 trillion-a-year market.

NYSE Member Firms Report Third-Quarter 2011 Results

New York Stock Exchange member firms that conduct business with the public reported a third-quarter 2011 after-tax loss of nearly $2.0 billion and revenues of about $30.0 billion, compared with a $2.1 billion after-tax gain on revenues of approximately $40.0 billion in the second-quarter of 2011.

More Europe Is The Only Way Out Of The Crisis

On 8 December 2011, at the 476^th plenary session of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) President Staffan Nilsson, the three interest groups making up the EESC and Jean-Paul Delevoye, President of the French Economic,Social and Environmental Council agreed that deeper European integration was the only way out of the crisis. In the lead up to the European Council, the EESC President's statement tackled key aspects of the crisis such as fiscal discipline, the discussion on stability bonds and regulation of the financial sector.
