Good Interim Results For SIX Group

SIX Group performed well in the first half of 2011 despite an adverse exchange rate environment, posting good interim results thanks to diversification and active cost management. Operating income was down 3.1% year-on-year at CHF 629 million. Revenue in local currency was up 1.7%. At CHF 102 million, Group net income was 5.3% lower than the year- back figure, although the decline was only 1.6% after adjustment for currency effects.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced that on August 18, 2011 a federal court in California entered an order freezing the assets of defendants Douglas Elsworth Wilson of Poway, Calif., and three California companies that he controls and manages, Elsworth Berg Capital Management LLC (EBCM), Elsworth Berg Inc., and Elsworth Berg FX LLC (collectively, Elsworth Berg). The order also prohibits the destruction of their books and records.
BM&FBOVESPA Announces New Selection Process For Unsponsored Level I BDR Programs - Interested Depositary Institutions have Until September 19, 2011 To Send Proposals

BM&FBOVESPA announces the start of the seventh selection process for a depositary institution authorized to issue Unsponsored Level I Brazilian Depositary Receipts (BDR). The winner will be able to issue 10 BDR programs, backed by shares issued by companies with headquarters in the U.S. and which are publicly traded in that country. The depositary institutions interested in taking part in the selection process should send in their proposals by September 19, 2011. The rules for the bidding process are described in the Bid Notice annexed to Circular Letter 040/2011-DP and the winner will be announced on September 26, 2011.
Natixis Global Associates Signs On To DTCC’s Model Management Exchange Service - Managed Portfolio Advisors First Overlay Manager To Join New Technology Platform

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) announced today that Managed Portfolio Advisors (MPA), one of the industry’s largest overlay management firms with $9.8 billion in assets under management as of June 30, 2011, has signed on to DTCC’s model management exchange service, a new technology platform designed to standardize and automate the model distribution process between investment managers, overlay portfolio managers and model program sponsors. MPA is a division of Natixis Asset Management Advisors, L.P. and part of Natixis Global Associates (NGA).

The CFTC Announces Appointment Of Gary Barnett As Swaps Division Director

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced the appointment of Gary Barnett to serve as the agency’s Director of the Division of Swap Dealer and Intermediary Oversight. The new division is part of the agency’s restructuring to fulfill its expanded responsibilities under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act). Barnett will play a key role in the CFTC’s efforts to regulate the swaps market under the law.

Three men were sentenced today at Southwark Crown Court to a total of 19 years in jail for boiler room fraud, following a long running and detailed investigation by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), City of London Police (CoLP) and Eurojust. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) conducted the prosecution.
