NASDAQ Announces Mid-Month Open Short Interest Positions In NASDAQ Stocks As Of Settlement Date August 15, 2011

At the end of the settlement date of August 15, 2011, short interest in 2,297 NASDAQ Global MarketSM securities totaled 6,913,397,284 shares compared with 6,640,112,203 shares in 2,294 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of July 29, 2011. The mid-August short interest represents 2.73 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.60 days for the prior reporting period.

FINRA Warns Investors Of Gold Stock Scams

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) issued a new Investor Alert called"Gold" Stocks—Some Investments Mine Your Pocketbook to warn investors about investment scams that promote gold stocks and to provide information on how to invest in legitimate gold investments. With the price of gold bullion at record levels, there has been a proliferation of blogs, websites, YouTube videos and Tweets centered on investing in gold. And while there are legitimate gold investments discussed online, FINRA is concerned that some investors may fall prey to gold-related investment scams.

NYSE Liffe Introduces Equity Options On UNIT4 N.V.

Today NYSE Liffe, the Europe-based derivatives business of NYSE Euronext (NYX), launched options on the shares in UNIT4 N.V. (ticker symbol: UNT). The new listed options enable investors to hedge their share positions and to benefit from price fluctuations. The options were introduced on the Amsterdam derivatives market of NYSE Liffe.

HKFE Announces Revised Margins For Power Assets Futures Contracts

Hong Kong Futures Exchange Limited (HKFE), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx), has announced that with effect from the commencement of trading on Friday, 26 August 2011, the minimum margins to be collected by an Exchange Participant from its clients in respect of their dealings in the following futures contract will be as outlined in the table below. The adjustments are based on the clearing company's normal procedures and standard margining methodology.
