SGX Accepts Lehman Brothers Pte Ltd’s Resignation

Singapore Exchange (“SGX”) has accepted the resignation of Lehman Brothers Pte Ltd (“LBPL”) as a Member of Singapore Exchange Derivatives Trading Limited (“SGX-DT”), Singapore Exchange Derivatives Clearing Limited (“SGX-DC”), Singapore Exchange Securities Trading Limited (“SGX-ST”) and The Central Depository Pte Ltd ("CDP").

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has won an important victory in the battle against unauthorised businesses after the High Court declared that James Kenneth Maynard, Countrywide Land Holdings Limited (Countrywide) and Plateau Development & Land Limited (Plateau) operated a collective investment scheme without authorisation and sold plots of land unlawfully to UK consumers. Regional Land and Countrywide were trading names used by Maynard.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) joins hands with 27 securities firms to launch the “I’m Online Investor” campaign, aiming to add 100,000 retail investors trading via Internet this year, stimulate investment, and lay the educational foundations for new investors.

HKEx: Arrangements For Adjustment Of Hong Kong & China Gas Futures And Options

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) announced the arrangements for the adjustment to the contract terms of all open Hong Kong & China Gas futures and options contracts in existence after the market close on 6 June 2012, the business day immediately before the ex-bonus day, which is 7 June 2012, to account for Hong Kong & China Gas’s one bonus share forevery 10 existing shares.

The Life and Longevity Markets Association (‘LLMA’) is pleased to announce that it has today launched its own set of four longevity indices. The LLMA Longevity Indices will be used as a global reference for the transfer of longevity risk from hedgers to investors and other counterparties.

The respective Boards of Lehman Brothers Pte Ltd (LBPL) and Lehman Brothers Singapore Pte Ltd (LBSPL) have informed the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) that LBPL and LBSPL have been placed under voluntary liquidation today, and Messrs Chay Foo Yuen, Bob Yap Cheng Ghee and Tan Puay Cheng of KPMG Services Pte Ltd have been appointed as the joint and several Liquidators for the two companies.
