The Financial Transaction Tax Will Reduce Member States' GNI Contributions To The EU Budget By 50%

If adopted as a new own resource of the EU budget the financial transaction tax (FTT) will significantly reduce the contributions of member states to the EU budget. According to estimates presented yesterday by the European Commission, Member States' contributions would be slashed by €54bn in 2020.

TOCOM Gold Market Celebrates 30th Anniversary Today

The Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) announced today the celebration of the 30th anniversary of its gold futures contract. On March 23, 1982, the Tokyo Gold Exchange, the market operator at the time, launched the first gold futures contract in Japan. Two years later, the Tokyo Commodity Exchange was formed by merging the Tokyo Gold Exchange, Tokyo Textile Exchange and Tokyo Rubber Exchange.

Hong Kong's Securities And Futures Commission: Takeovers-Related Amendments Take Effect

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) announced that the following amendments (Note 1) to the Codes on Takeovers and Mergers and Share Repurchases (Codes) will take immediate effect:
- Property valuation requirements now only apply to offers when the offeror is an interested party (Note 2).
- Regarding confirmations of independence of placees in placing and top-up transactions, it is the responsibility of the financial adviser, placing agent and acquirer of the voting rights to confirm the independence of placees.
- The prescribed period for payment of acceptance of an offer is no longer 10 days but seven business days.

Dalian Commodity Exchange: Notice On Changes Of Trading Margins And Price Fluctuation Limits During 2012 Qingming Holiday Break

Base on the provisions of Article 9 of the Measures for Risk Management of Dalian Commodity Exchange and after studies, DCE has decided to make changes of trading margins as well as upper and lower price fluctuation limits on various futures varieties around the 2012 Qingming Holiday break period as follows:
Starting from the settlement time of March 29, 2012 (Thursday) on, the minimum trading margins will increase to 8 percent for contracts of No. 1 soybeans, No.2 soybeans, soybean meal, soybean oil, RBD palm olein, PE, PVC and coke, and the upper and lower price fluctuation limits for these contracts will be expanded to 6 percent. -
Shanghai Stock Exchange Market Closure Schedule For 2012 Tomb Sweeping Day

The Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) hereby announces the market closure schedule for 2012 Tomb Sweeping Day according to the "SSE Holiday Schedule for 2012" (Shang Zheng Jiao Zi [2011] No. 52). The SSE will close from April 2 (Monday) to April 4 (Wednesday) and open for trading on April 5 (Thursday). It will also close on the weekends on March 31 (Saturday) and April 1 (Sunday). Please make relevant arrangements according to the notice.
