SEC Charges Solar Manufacturer With Concealing Agreement To Transfer Ownership Stake In Its Chinese Subsidiary

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged a solar panel manufacturer headquartered in South San Francisco and three of its former executives with defrauding investors by concealing the transfer of nearly half of the ownership stake in its Chinese subsidiary to three individuals in China who manage the subsidiary.

Federal Court In Tennessee Orders Blue Sky Capital Management Corp. And Its Principal, Gregory M. Schneider, To Pay $140,000 For Making False Statements To The National Futures Association

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced that it obtained a federal court order requiring Blue Sky Capital Management Corp. (Blue Sky) and its principal, Gregory M. Schneider, jointly and severally to pay a $140,000 civil monetary penalty for making false statements to representatives of the National Futures Association (NFA), the futures industry self-regulatory organization, which operates under CFTC oversight. Schneider currently resides in Bellville, Ohio, and Blue Sky maintained a business address in Lebanon, Tenn.

The Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Index was up 1.29% for the month of August as Isaac—the first hurricane to reach the U.S. this year—made its way to the U.S. and threatened crops and product production. The storm was eventually downgraded from hurricane strength. Market participants also took note of minutes from the latest Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting that indicated a third round of monetary easing may be necessary.

Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Indexes - August 2012 Performance Report

The Dow Jones-UBS Commodity Index was up 1.29% for the month of August. The Dow Jones-UBS Single Commodity Indexes for unleaded gas, orange juice and silver had the strongest gains with month-end returns of 13.62%, 13.35% and 12.31%, respectively. The three most significant downside performing single commodity indexes were natural gas, sugar and lean hogs, which ended the month down 14.44%, 12.63 %, and 7.63% respectively.
