Let me start by congratulating SIAS on its 25th anniversary and for successfully organising the 15th iteration of its Corporate Governance Week this year.

This has been an important platform for stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions and share best practices to address emerging challenges in corporate governance.

New Zealand Financial Markets Authority Consultation: Regulatory Returns For Financial Institution Licensees

Registered banks, licensed insurers and licensed non-bank deposit takers who hold a financial institution licence will be required to provide the New Zealand Financial Markets Authority with regulatory return information, as set out in the standard conditions for financial institutions.

US Financial Stability Oversight Council Meetings

On Friday, September 20, Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen will preside over a meeting of the Financial Stability Oversight Council (Council) at the Treasury Department. The meeting will consist only of an executive session. The preliminary agenda for the executive session includes an update on the Inter-Agency Working Group on Treasury Market Surveillance; an update on the Council’s Climate-related Financial Risk Committee and a vote on additional members of the Council’s Climate-related Financial Risk Advisory Committee; the Council’s 2024 annual report; and the Council’s fiscal year 2025 budget.*

CFTC To Hold A Commission Open Meeting September 20

Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Rostin Behnam today announced the Commission will hold an open meeting on Friday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m. (EDT) at the CFTC’s Washington, D.C. headquarters. Members of the public can attend the meeting in person, listen by phone, or view a live stream at CFTC.gov.

US Department Of Justice: Twelve Defendants Sentenced For Violent Home Invasion Robberies To Steal Cryptocurrency

A Florida man was sentenced to 47 years in prison on Wednesday for his role in a scheme involving a series of home invasion robberies targeting cryptocurrency. Between Sept. 5 and Sept. 12, a total of 12 men have been sentenced for their role in the scheme.

US Federal Agencies Extend Comment Period On Request For Information On Bank-Fintech Arrangements

The federal bank regulatory agencies announced today that they will extend until October 30, 2024, the comment period on a request for information on bank-fintech arrangements involving banking products and services.

SEC Charges Former Financial Consultant For Providing Father And Friends Inside Information Regarding Firm’s Client - Consultant’s Father And Two Friends Charged With Making More Than $1 Million In Illicit Insider Trading Profits

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged Federico Nannini, his father, and two of his friends for insider trading in advance of the pending acquisition of Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives, Inc. (IEA) by MasTec Inc., a client of the financial consulting firm where Nannini worked as an associate.
