  • FINRA's Statement On SEC Chair White's Enhancing Our Market Structure Speech

    Date 05/06/2014

FINRA applauds Chair White's speech today on the important issue of enhancing America's equity market structure. FINRA strongly supports Chair White's recommendations with respect to trading in off-exchange venues as we believe they would further promote market stability and fairness.  It is important to the safety and of soundness of the markets that dealers that trade in off-exchange venues not be exempted from FINRA oversight.  FINRA supports expanding its ATS trading volume disclosure system to include all off-exchange venues, thereby shedding more light on what are now opaque areas of trading to investors.  FINRA looks forward to working with the SEC on these important initiatives to ensure market integrity and protect the interests of the  investing public. Chair White's decisive leadership in examining market structure issues will stand American investors in good stead.
