Euronext Strengthens Senior Management Team

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced its examination priorities for 2014, which cover a wide range of issues at financial institutions, including investment advisers and investment companies, broker-dealers, clearing agencies, exchanges and other self-regulatory organizations, hedge funds, private equity funds, and transfer agents.

European Central Bank: New Directors General For Supervision Appointed - Four New Directors General To Take Up Positions In Early 2014

FINRA Orders Stifel, Nicolaus And Century Securities To Pay Fines And Restitution Totaling More Than $1 Million For Unsuitable Sales Of Leveraged And Inverse Etfs, And Related Supervisory Deficiencies

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) today announced that it has ordered two St. Louis-based broker-dealers – Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, Incorporated and Century Securities Associates, Inc. – to pay combined fines of $550,000 and a total of nearly $475,000 in restitution to 65 customers in connection with sales of leveraged and inverse exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Stifel and Century are affiliates and are both owned by Stifel Financial Corporation.
