SEC Proposes Rule To Update Definition Of Qualifying Venture Capital Funds - Proposal Would Inflation Adjust The Dollar Threshold To Be Considered A Qualifying Venture Capital Fund

The Securities and Exchange Commission today proposed a rule that would update the dollar threshold for a fund to qualify as a “qualifying venture capital fund” for purposes of the Investment Company Act of 1940 (Act). The rule would update the dollar threshold to $12 million aggregate capital contributions and uncalled committed capital, up from the current standard of $10 million.

ISDA, FIA Respond To Australian Treasury On Financial Market Infrastructure Reforms

On February 9, ISDA and FIA submitted a joint response to the Australian Treasury consultation on financial market infrastructure regulatory reforms. In the response, the associations considered the proposed crisis resolution regime, which would provide the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) with powers to step in and resolve a crisis affecting a domestic central counterparty (CCP), with the aim of ensuring the continuity of critical clearing functions and maintaining financial stability in Australia.

On January 9, ISDA, the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) and the European Banking Federation (EBF) submitted a joint response to the European Commission (EC) consultation on the best way to identify over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives for transparency requirements under the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation (MIFIR).

ETFGI Reports Assets Invested In The ETFs Industry In Canada Reached A New Record US$314.45 Billion At The End Of January

ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs ecosystem, reported today that assets invested in the ETFs industry in Canada reached a new record US$314.45 billion at the end of January. The ETFs industry in Canada gathered net inflows of US$3.42 billion during January. During the month, assets invested in the ETFs industry in Canada increased by 0.3%, going from US$313.48 billion at the end of December to US$314.45 billion, according to ETFGI's January 2024 Canadian ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report, the monthly report which is part of an annual paid-for research subscription service.
