FINRA Fines Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. $12.5 Million For Inadequate Supervision Of Internal Communications

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) today announced it has fined Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. $12.5 million for significant supervisory failures related to research and trading-related information it disseminated to its employees, called 'hoots' or 'squawks,' over internal speakers commonly known as 'squawk boxes.' Despite multiple red flags regarding the potential dissemination of confidential information, Deutsche Bank failed to establish adequate supervision over registered representatives' access to hoots or their communications with customers regarding hoots. As part of the settlement, Deutsche Bank also agreed to provide a written certification that it has adopted and implemented supervisory systems and written procedures concerning hoots that are reasonably designed to achieve compliance with FINRA rules and federal securities laws.

ICE Eris Interest Rate Futures Achieve Record Volume - ICE Eris GBP LIBOR Future Is First Sterling Denominated Interest Rate Swap Future To Trade On-Exchange

Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE), a leading operator of global exchanges and clearing houses and provider of data and listings services, announced that ICE Eris Euribor® and GBP LIBOR interest rate futures reached a record monthly volume of 8,185 contracts for the month of July. The previous monthly record of 1,719 contracts was set in June 2016.
