  • European Supervisory Authorities Write To Commission On Delay To Bilateral Margin Rules For Derivatives

    The Joint Committee of the three European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs) – EBA, EIOPA and ESMA – has issued a joint letter to Jonathan Hill, European Commissioner for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union, on the delayed adoption of the joint draft regulatory technical standards on risk mitigation techniques for non-centrally cleared ​OTC derivatives​. 

  • EEX Trading Results For June 2016 - Power Derivatives Volume Doubles In June

    In June 2016, the monthly volume on EEX’s power derivatives market amounted to 374.7 terawatt hours (TWh), more than doubling the volume achieved in June 2015 (184.0 TWh). EEX recorded increased volumes in German (+106%), French (+65%) and Italian (+40%) power futures and in particular in Spanish power futures where trading volumes increased more than five-fold compared to June 2015. In power options, EEX registered the highest monthly volume of 2016 so far. 

  • ESMA Proposes Two Amendments To Natural Person Identifiers Under MiFID II

    The European Securities and Markets Authority has today submitted two amendments to the European Commission in relation to the draft regulatory technical standards on reporting obligations under Article 26 of the Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation- MiFIR (RTS 22). ESMA first submitted RTS 22 to the European Commission on 25 September 2015.
