The monitor says investors’ risk appetites quickly recovered in the third quarter from the initial shock of the United Kingdom's vote to exit the European Union. The ultimate financial and political effects of the U.K.’s exit will take months or years to negotiate, and could introduce further confidence shocks to global markets.

  • CFTC Financial Data For Futures Commission Merchants Update

    Futures commission merchants (FCMs) and retail foreign exchange dealers (RFEDs) must file monthly financial reports with the CFTC's Division of Swap Dealer and Intermediary Oversight (DSIO) within 17 business days after the end of the month. Selected financial information from these reports is published below. The most recent month-end information generally is added within 12 business days after FCMs and RFEDs file their reports, but occasionally may be added later. For example:  The 17th business day filing “due date" for February 28, 2015 financial reports was March 25, 2015.  The 12 business day target for posting these data was April 10, 2015.

  • CFTC Signs MOU With UK Financial Conduct Authority To Enhance Supervision Of Cross-Border Regulated Firms

    The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today that CFTC Chairman Timothy Massad and Andrew Bailey, Chief Executive of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding cooperation and the exchange of information in the supervision and oversight of certain regulated firms that operate on a cross-border basis in the United States and in the United Kingdom.

    MGEX, a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO), announced the results of its annual Board of Directors (Board) election, held October 6, 2016. Re-elected to the Board were Martin F. Farrell, Christopher T. Matzdorf and Michael O. Miller. Newly elected to the Board was Kerry L. Melius. All were elected to serve two-year terms.

    Trading value in the equity market (BOVESPA segment) totaled BRL 139.23 billion in September, compared with BRL 168.37 billion in the previous month. Average daily trading value was BRL 6.63 billion, versus BRL 7.32 billion in August. Total volume amounted to 18,510,934 shares, compared with 20,201,699 shares in the previous month. Average daily volume was 881,473 shares (878,335 shares in August).

  • EBA: Consultation On Guidelines On ICT Risk Assessment Under The SREP (EBA-CP-2016-14)

    The European Banking Authority (EBA) launched today a consultation on its draft Guidelines on the assessment of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) risk in the context of the Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP). These draft Guidelines are addressed to competent authorities and aim at promoting common procedures and methodologies for the assessment of ICT risk. The consultation runs until 06 January 2017.
