UK VC Funding Down By 31.2% YoY In Q1 2024, Finds GlobalData

The UK experienced a year-on-year (YoY) decline in venture capital (VC) funding deal volume and value during the first quarter (Q1) of 2024 as investor sentiment remained weak. A total of 281 VC deals of worth $2.7 billion were announced during the quarter. This represents a 21.7% YoY decline in deals volume and 31.2% fall in funding value, respectively. Despite these challenges, March showed improvement in deal value amidst declining volume, observes GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company.

- As we move to join the ever-growing ranks of jurisdictions with mandatory climate disclosure, entities should start putting into place the systems, processes and governance practices that will be required to meet new climate reporting requirements.
- As with any new regulatory regime, ASIC will take a pragmatic approach to the supervision and enforcement of the regime, and we will develop and issue guidance to help entities meet their new obligations.
- We will also work with the Government and the other Council of Financial Regulators (CFR) agencies on supporting implementation of the regime, including on broader initiatives that will assist entities meet their new obligations.

SGX RegCo Wants Boards To Help Enable Shareholder-Requisitioned Meetings

To improve board-shareholder engagements, Singapore Exchange Regulation (SGX RegCo) is proposing a rule change to require listed issuers to assist shareholders who have requisitioned a general meeting so that the meeting can take place as soon as practicable. Issuers are to commence facilitative efforts within 21 days of deposit of the requisition notice. An issuer who disputes the validity of the requisition notice must apply for a court ruling within the same timeline.
