Statement By IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde On Meeting With Greece Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras

The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Christine Lagarde, met today in Washington with the Prime Minister of Greece, Alexis Tsipras, to discuss recent developments in Greece and key issues ahead. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Managing Director made the following statement:

“I was very pleased to welcome Prime Minister Tsipras to the IMF today. I complimented him and the Greek people on the notable progress Greece has achieved in the implementation of difficult policies, including recent pension and income tax reforms. We had an excellent and productive meeting."

FINRA Orders Wells Fargo Broker-Dealers To Pay $3.4 Million In Restitution And Reminds Firms Of Sales Practice Obligations For Volatility-Linked Products

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) announced today that it has ordered Wells Fargo Clearing Services, LLC and Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network, LLC to pay more than $3.4 million in restitution to affected customers for unsuitable recommendations of volatility-linked exchange-traded products (ETPs) and related supervisory failures. FINRA found that between July 1, 2010, and May 1, 2012, certain Wells Fargo registered representatives recommended volatility-linked ETPs without fully understanding their risks and features.

The Securities and Exchange Commission today voted to propose amendments to modernize and simplify disclosure requirements for public companies, investment advisers, and investment companies and to implement a mandate under the Fixing America's Surface Transportation (FAST) Act. The proposed amendments would make adjustments to update, streamline or otherwise improve the Commission's disclosure framework.

CFTC Announces Clearinghouse Liquidity Stress Test Results

Staff of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today issued a report detailing the results of an evaluation of settlement liquidity at clearinghouses. The purpose of the analysis was to assess the impact of a hypothetical extreme but plausible market scenario on the ability of three clearinghouses to meet their settlement obligations on time. It is the second systemic stress testing report issued by CFTC, following its Supervisory Stress Test of Clearinghouses published in November 2016.
