British And Australian Regulators Strengthen Cooperation On FinTech Through Enhanced Cooperation Agreement

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) today signed an Enhanced Cooperation Agreement between their Innovation Hubs to extend their existing agreement of cooperation and coordination on FinTech innovation. This agreement forms part of the broader Fintech Bridge signed by the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Australian Treasurer.

Bank Of England: Bank Rate Maintained At 0.50%

Our Monetary Policy Committee has voted by a majority of 7-2 to maintain Bank Rate at 0.50%. The committee also voted unanimously to maintain the stock of corporate bond purchases and UK government bond purchases.

Visible Alpha, an investment research technology firm founded by some of the world’s leading investment banks, today announced HSBC (LON: HSBA; NYSE: HSBC; HK:0005) is investing in the firm, following a new investment round announced in early 2018. Visible Alpha raised $38 million in January with participation from new investors Goldman Sachs, Banco Santander, Exane BNP Paribas, Macquarie Group, Royal Bank of Canada and Wells Fargo, as well as additional investment from Visible Alpha’s founding investors, Bank of America, Citi, Jefferies, Morgan Stanley and UBS.

ACER Publishes Guidance On Capacity Hoarding In Intraday Electricity Markets That Could Constitute Market Manipulation

With the aim of ensuring the integrity of valuable EU cross-border trading capacities, ACER publishes today a guidance note on capacity hoarding in intraday electricity markets that could constitute market manipulation under REMIT (EU Regulation on Wholesale Market Integrity and Transparency). Capacity hoarding consists of the acquisition of available transmission capacity without using it or without using it effectively.
