  • EEX Trading Results For May 2018 - EEX Achieves Monthly Record In Phelix-DE Futures And EUA

    In May 2018, the European Energy Exchange (EEX) increased volumes on its power derivatives markets by 23% to 306.9 TWh (May 2017: 248.7 TWh) which is the highest volume since March 2017. In the benchmark product for European power trading, the Phelix-DE Future, EEX achieved new monthly record of 170.4 TWh. Furthermore, EEX was able to significantly increase volumes in its markets for Italy (58.4 TWh, +60%), Spain (9.7 TWh, +52%) and the Netherlands (3.2 TWh, +283%). Volumes on the options markets have tripled as against the previous year to 31.7 TWh (May 2017: 10.3 TWh).

  • US Agencies Issue Final Rulemaking To Shorten Settlement Cycle

    The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) today issued a final rule to shorten the standard settlement cycle for securities purchased or sold by OCC-supervised and FDIC-supervised institutions. The final rule will require banks to settle most securities transactions within the number of business days in the standard settlement cycle followed by registered broker dealers in the United States unless otherwise agreed to by the parties at the time of the transaction. In doing so, the rule aligns the settlement cycle requirements of the OCC, FDIC, and Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

    OneChicago, LLC (ONE), a securities finance exchange, today announced its May 2018 volume of 554,378, a decrease of 64% year-over-year. OneChicago is a CFTC and SEC regulated exchange offering Single Stock Futures (SSF), a Delta One product, on approximately 1,800 equities, including ADRs and ETFs.

    Meanwhile, a total turnover of 2.699 billion shares worth N84.775 billion in 19,715 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange in contrast to a total of 1.372 billion shares valued at N16.022 billion that exchanged hands last week in 21,099 deals.
