Introduction

Good morning and welcome to the CFTC’s Market Risk Advisory Committee’s (“MRAC” or “Committee”) third and final meeting of 2018.  As we edge closer to a new year, I have begun to reflect on the work of this Committee that started twelve months ago, and I am both proud of the accomplishments, and equally optimistic and excited for 2019.  As our markets continue to grow, evolve, and innovate in an atmosphere of increasing geopolitical tensions, there will be new questions and issues to address.  This Committee continually demonstrates a deft ability to adapt itself by addressing the most pressing and challenging market risk issues of the day.

EBA Announces Timing For Publication Of 2018 EU-Wide Transparency Exercise And Risk Assessment Report

Agricultural producer sentiment held steady in November with producers remaining optimistic about the state of the agricultural economy, according to results from the Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer. The November barometer reading of 134 was only 1 percent lower than October, which is similar to levels seen last spring before trade disruptions began. The barometer utilizes a survey of 400 agricultural producers from across the country.

• Increase of the total volume of trading in futures by 14.9% YoY to 664.3 thousand contracts in November 2018
• Increase of the total value of trading in equities on NewConnect by 80.0% YoY to PLN 176.2 million
• Increase of the value of trading in structured products by 11.4% YoY to PLN 95.4 million
• Increase of the total volume of trading in electricity by 110.7% to 22.6 TWh in November 2018
• Decrease of the total volume of trading in natural gas by 8.9% YoY to 13.4 TWh in November 2018

ESMA Is Seeking Experts In Financial Innovation For Its Consultative Group
