Meanwhile in another part of Europe, time is running out for Swiss equivalence. The one year period previously granted in December 2017 is set to expire on 31st December. Switzerland needs equivalent third-country status in order to preserve the status quo and allow EU trading participants bound by MIFID to continue accessing the Swiss market locally in the EU.

EEX And IBEX Sign Agreement On Cooperation - EEX Further Extends Its Offering For South-Eastern Europe – Derivatives Trading To Cover 20 European Market Areas In 2019

The European Energy Exchange (EEX) and the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX), have signed an agreement on the cooperation in the Bulgarian power market. As part of the cooperation and subject to the approval of the relevant authorities, EEX will list Euro-denominated and financially settled Base Week, Month, Quarter and Year Futures for the Bulgarian market. The new Bulgarian power futures will be settled against the day-ahead spot market price calculated by IBEX. The introduction of the contracts is planned for the first half of 2019.

- The average daily turnover for the first 11 months of 2018 was $110.4 billion, an increase of 27 per cent when compared with $86.9 billion for the same period last year.
- The average daily turnover of derivative warrants for the first 11 months of 2018 was $16.2 billion, an increase of 35 per cent when compared with $12.0 billion for the same period last year.
- The average daily turnover of CBBCs for the first 11 months of 2018 was $7.6 billion, an increase of 62 per cent when compared with $4.7 billion for the same period last year.
- Funds raised through IPOs for the first 11 months of 2018 was $261.5 billion, an increase of 124 per cent when compared with $116.9 billion for the same period last year.
- There were 196* newly listed companies for the first 11 months of 2018 which reached a record high, an increase of 30 per cent when compared with 151* for the same period last year.
