I want to thank Darrell Duffie for inviting me to discuss the future of payments.1 Digitalization is enabling consumers and businesses to transfer value instantaneously, technology platforms to scale up rapidly in payments, and new digital currencies to facilitate these payments. By transforming payments, digitalization has the potential to deliver greater value and convenience at lower cost. But there are risks. Some of the new players are outside the financial system's regulatory guardrails, and their new currencies could pose challenges in areas such as illicit finance, privacy, financial stability, and monetary policy transmission.

ISDA To Re-consult On Pre-Cessation Fallbacks

ISDA has announced that it will re-consult on how to implement pre-cessation fallbacks. Based on the results of that consultation, ISDA will move quickly to deliver the appropriate, industry endorsed fallback solution later this year.

EEX responded to the public consultation the European Commission launched on the Climate Law Roadmap. EEX is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the next steps in the development of the Green Deal and stressed some key aspects the Climate Law should consider to ensure Europe meets its ambitious 2030 and 2050 objectives.

EBA: Draft Guidelines Under Articles 17 And 18(4) Of Directive (EU) 2015/849 On Customer Due Diligence And ML/TF Risk Factors (JC 2019 87) (JC 2019 87)

The EBA issued today a public consultation on revised money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF) risk factors Guidelines as part of a broader communication on AML/CFT issues. This update takes into account changes to the EU Anti Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CFT) legal framework and new ML/TF risks, including those identified by the EBA’s implementation reviews. These Guidelines are central to the EBA’s work to lead, coordinate and monitor the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, explained in the accompanying factsheet. The consultation runs until 5 May 2020.
