New Director Of The European Union Agency For The Cooperation Of Energy Regulators Designated

The Administrative Board of the EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) has designated1 Mr Christian Zinglersen as Director of the Agency. The designation took place yesterday and it followed a favourable opinion from the Board of Regulators. Before appointment, Mr Christian Zinglersen will be invited to make a statement before the competent committee of the European Parliament. His term of office is five years (renewable once for up to five years) as of 1 January 2020.

Historical Moment: Romania Is Promoted To Emerging Market Status

- Global index provider FTSE Russell promoted Romania to Emerging Market from Frontier Market status, as announced on September 26th, three years after the country was added to the Watch List.
- The reclassification of the status will become effective in September next year.

Hong Kong Securities And Futures Commission Proposes To Regulate Trustees And Custodians Of Public Funds

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) today launched a consultation on a proposal to regulate depositaries of SFC-authorized collective investment schemes (CIS). Depositaries operating in Hong Kong would be licensed by or registered with the SFC for a new type of regulated activity, RA 13, and be subject to the ongoing supervision of the SFC or the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).

SEC Charges Marketing And Printing Services Provider With FCPA Violations

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Quad/Graphics Inc., a Wisconsin-based digital and print marketing provider, has agreed to pay nearly $10 million to resolve charges that it violated the Foreign Corrupt Practice Act (FCPA) by engaging in multiple bribery schemes in Peru and China.
