Eurex’s ESG Segment Exceeds Half A Million Traded Contracts

Eurex's Environmental Social Government (ESG) derivatives reached half a million traded contracts on 12 December, with a nominal value of EUR 7 billion. This milestone, which further demonstrates Eurex’s leading role in this segment, was achieved shortly before the quarterly expiration date on which many traders have to roll their exposure.

Financial Stability Board Sets Out 2020 Work Programme

The Financial Stability Board (FSB) today published its work programme for 2020. The FSB’s work priorities for 2020 reflect the evolving nature of the global financial system and associated risks to financial stability. The FSB will reinforce its forward-looking monitoring of developments to identify, assess and address new and emerging vulnerabilities. At the same time, the FSB will continue its work to finalise and operationalise the remaining elements of post-crisis reforms; monitor and assess the implementation of reforms; and evaluate their effects in order to ensure that reforms work as intended.

UK Financial Conduct Authority Secures Confiscation Order Totalling £5 Million Against Illegal Money Lender

On 11 December 2019, Southwark Crown Court made a confiscation order against Dharam Prakash Gopee in the sum of £5,118,018.72. The effect of the order is to confiscate all his criminal proceeds as an illegal money lender. Mr Gopee was also ordered to pay almost £230,000 in compensation to consumers.

International Ownership At Its Highest Level Since The Financial Crisis - Non-Norwegian Investors Now Own 39.3% Of Equities Listed At Oslo Børs, Which Is The Highest Level Since 2008

Non-Norwegian investors’ appetite for shares in companies listed at Oslo Børs has grown steadily for the last decade. During the financial crisis international investors abandoned Norwegian equities, and the proportion of the equity market owned by non-Norwegian investors fell from over 40% to a low of 31.6% in February 2009.
