Bursa Malaysia Announces RM151.0 Million Profit After Tax And Minority Interest For The First Half Of 2020 Highest First Half Financial Performance Since Listing In 2005

Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or the “Exchange”) recorded a Profit After Tax and Minority Interest (“PATAMI”) of RM151.0 million for the first half ended 30 June 2020 (“1H2020”), a 62.0% increase from RM93.2 million reported in the previous corresponding half ended 30 June 2019 (“1H2019”). The increase in PATAMI is due to higher operating revenue, which increased by 33.6% to RM320.7 million from RM240.0 million in 1H2019. Meanwhile, total operating expenses in 1H2020 increased by 3.7% to RM127.1 million from RM122.6 million in 1H2019, mainly due to higher staff and technology costs. This is Bursa Malaysia’s highest first-half financial performance since its listing in 2005.

Monetary Authority Of Singapore Revokes Licence Of Apical Asset Management Pte. Ltd For AML/CFT Breaches, Reprimands Its CEO And Board

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) revoked the Capital Markets Services (CMS) licence of Apical Asset Management Pte. Ltd. (AAMPL) on 28 July 2020, for serious breaches of MAS’ Anti-Money Laundering/Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) requirements. MAS has also reprimanded AAMPL’s CEO and Director Yeh Yin Yee and Director Bernard Kan Cheok Yin for failing to discharge their duties and functions of ensuring that AAMPL complies with all laws and rules governing its operations.

ESMA Is Preparing A New RTS To Further Postpone CSDR Settlement Discipline

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU’s securities markets regulator, is working on a proposal to possibly delay the entry into force of the CSDR settlement discipline regime until 1 February 2022. This is due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the implementation of regulatory projects and IT deliveries by CSDs and came as a request from the European Commission.

ETFGI Reports That Assets Invested In ETFs And ETPs Listed In Europe Are Back Over The US$1 Trillion Milestone At The End Of June 2020

ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm covering trends in the global ETFs/ETPs ecosystem, reported today that ETFs and ETPs listed in Europe reported net inflows of US$11.38 billion during June, bringing year-to-date net inflows to US$32.65 billion which is below the US$44.12 billion gathered at this point in 2019. Assets invested in the European ETFs/ETPs industry have increased by 4%, from US$968.88 billion at the end of May, to US$1.01 trillion, the third highest level on record, according to ETFGI's June 2020 European ETFs and ETPs industry landscape insights report, an annual paid-for research subscription service.
