    SIFMA released the following statement from Kenneth E. Bentsen, Jr., SIFMA president and CEO, on the proposal released today reforming supplemental leverage ratio (SLR) rules:

    “We commend the Agencies for recognizing the need to address the constraints created by leverage ratio requirements on large banks, impacting their ability to intermediate the U.S. Treasury market and in turn negatively impacts Treasury market liquidity."

    The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is announcing it will provide up to $875,000 in funding to the Osgoode Hall Law School Investor Protection Clinic (Osgoode IPC). The Osgoode IPC provides pro-bono legal assistance to Ontarians who have suffered an investment loss but cannot afford a lawyer to represent them.

  • Acting Comptroller Of The US Currency Issues Statement On Proposal To Modify The Enhanced Supplementary Leverage Ratio

    Acting Comptroller of the Currency Rodney E. Hood issued the following statement today following his approval of an interagency notice of proposed rulemaking to modify the enhanced supplementary leverage ratio:

    I strongly support the notice of proposed rulemaking to modify the leverage ratio standard applicable to the largest and most systemically important banking organizations. The proposal would better tailor our capital requirements for banks to ensure the enhanced supplementary leverage ratio functions as a true backstop—not a primary constraint that limits lending unnecessarily. The proposal aligns with my commitment that the capital framework should support resilience but does not constrain growth.

  • US Regulators To Hold Outreach Event For Municipal Market Professionals

    The Securities and Exchange Commission, the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) today announced that registration is now open for the 2025 Joint Compliance Outreach Program, a two-day event to discuss compliance and regulatory matters directly with municipal market professionals. The program will be held virtually via Zoom on November 18 and 19.
